I’ve built at least 100 wordpress sites over the years, so while I’m not to the point where I typically try messing with CSS, I am used to some of the basics of setting up a theme. The challenge I’ve run into is getting a theme to look like the demo version. Often it’s just a time issue where I just don’t have time time to spend to fuss w/ it or try and figure it out.
What drew me to Superb Themes is that they had a look I liked for simple, blog-style sites.
After installing a theme, you have the option of downloading additional widgets or information which will allow you to have the installed theme, look like the demo they have on their site. This is pretty straightforward to do. The part that wasn’t clear is what you need to do when you install a different theme. And what I learned is that you have to manually go in and remove the widgets from the previous theme, otherwise you’ll see “two” sets of widgets for things like the author box, etc.
With the first I started working with, I noticed a few things that didn’t look like the original demo they had on their site. Some of of the font layouts and font colors seemed off. But when I mentioned this to their support, they were more than happy to fix everything. Also, I had an issue where the crop feature seemed to stop working. Again, they gave me a workaround that got the job done.
I probably went back and forth with their support for about a week and they were always happy to help and never seemed bothered by me asking another questions, or needing help with something.
And this is what I believe makes using their themes such a great value. B/c I’ve spend $50 or more on a single theme, that I never really got looking the way I liked. Or there was something not working right and I couldn’t tell if it was on my end or the theme’s end. And at some point, your time is more important than spending hour after hour trying to trouble-shoot something.
So here, if I stumble across something i’m not able to figure out or fix, then I just send them an email and they’re helping me w/ it. Most of the time, I’ve always got a response w/in a day. But i think once it took two days (over the weekend I believe).
Overall, this is a company I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend purchasing from and working with, especially for those who may need a bit of extra support getting their theme up and running 🙂
